REFLECTION

During the 14-week Video and Sound Production course, I gained hands-on experience in the technical and creative aspects of audio and video production. Structured exercises and project milestones allowed me to progressively improve my skills in editing, sound shaping, filming and visual effects.

In Project 1, I learned about the importance of accuracy in audio dubbing and how sound can dramatically change the mood and perception of a scene. The sound shaping exercises were particularly eye-opening as I experimented with using equalizers, reverbs, and pitch shifts to simulate different sound environments such as telephones, closets, underground caves, and even sci-fi alien sounds. These exercises helped deepen my understanding of how sound design can support storytelling.

Project 2 emphasized teamwork and hands-on production practice. My role as Boom operator in the group gave me valuable experience in capturing clean dialog while coordinating with the camera crew. We worked closely together on two video clips: “Larin” and “Final Trailer”. Shooting on location taught me how to adapt to unpredictable conditions and maintain clear communication between different characters, which is crucial in a professional production environment.

For the final project, I utilized visual effects techniques from Adobe After Effects and Premiere Pro. I used tools such as Roto Brush, masking, and motion tracking to create a scene with multiple identical characters that appear in different scenes.

Overall, this course gave me a comprehensive understanding of the video and sound production pipeline—from concept to final output. It enhanced my technical proficiency, improved my ability to work collaboratively, and deepened my appreciation of how sound and visuals combine to create compelling media. I now feel more confident in handling both audio and video tasks in future creative projects.
