Exercises :Task 4  Final Assignment Transitions Webcomic
Assignment OverviewIn this final assignment, students will create an animated, web-ready comic cover and a minimum 3 panel comic page based on the short story "The Monkey's Paw" by W.W. Jacobs. This assignment brings together storytelling, composition, and animation to capture the eerie atmosphere of the narrative, formatted for a mobile-friendly, portrait display.https://www.sfu.ca/~swartz/monkeys_paw.htm

The old man, with an unspeakable sense of relief at the failure of the talisman, crept back to his bed, and a minute afterward the old woman came silently and apathetically beside him.

Neither spoke, but lay silently listening to the ticking of the clock. A stair creaked, and a squeaky mouse scurried noisily through the wall. The darkness was oppressive, and after lying for some time screwing up his courage, he took the box of matches, and striking one, went downstairs for a candle.

At the foot of the stairs the match went out, and he paused to strike another; and at the same moment a knock came so quiet and stealthy as to be scarcely audible, sounded on the front door.

The matches fell from his hand and spilled in the passage. He stood motionless, his breath suspended until the knock was repeated.

2, Design Concept

Surrealistic cartoon, I used many grotesque designs to emphasize the difference between the cartoon and reality, the fading watch hand symbolizes the beginning of the horror, the man blinks nervously, the twisting tentacles I designed at the staircase symbolize that the horror starts to come closer to them, and also represent the magic of the monkey's paw, and the mouse at the corner becomes horrifying, I used the mouse to accentuate the spooky atmosphere

Feedback :He love the references. He guess you could do this, but do keep in mind that the artwork needs to be a little bit more surrealistic
The comic panel sketches are awesome.
REFLECTION:

Experience:This is my first time to draw manga, I have to think long and hard from the clip to the selection of material, which clip is good to draw, how to better improve the expression of the picture is what I have to think about!

ObservationsI didn't realise there were so many categories and preoccupations with the comic's subplot, and all in all, this has benefited me a great deal

Findings :I really liked the comic I designed this time around, and what I benefited from was the understanding of comic book subplots and how to segue well, which was challenging but fun!
